In the week, opening hours tend to be mornings and late afternoon, early evening. It is a rarity to find shops open on Sunday. All shops close for a Saints Day, but as different Saints produce closed shops in different towns and areas, just wait to be surprised. Now you know why we have a starter pack!

There are two convenience shops open on Sundays one in Parcent and a Quick Save on the N332. The supermarkets tend to be open to 9pm on Saturdays. They are sometimes open on Sundays.


In Orba

Shops to satisfy all your basic needs are available in the village. 

• Paper shop and tobacconist (including Sunday morning for your English paper)
• Small supermarkets
• Bakers
• Greengrocers
• Butchers
• Pharmacy
• Optician
• The English shop (if you are desperate for baked beans, tomato ketchup or a video, etc.)
• English run Beauty Salon for manicure, pedicure and massage (96 558 3900)
• Weekly market on a Wednesday morning for fresh produce. 

Explore and do not be put off by a small frontage to a shop.

 

Larger supermarkets (usually open until late on Saturday)

Ondara (10 minutes)

• Consum, Mercadona and Mas y Mas in the town.
• Eroski Hypermarket in the Portal de la Marina large shopping centre adjacent to the N332 and Ondara.

 

Pedreguer (10 minutes)

• Mas y Mas in the town

 

On the N332 (15 minutes)

• Mas y Mas. From Pedreguer take the Denia/La Xara road to the traffic lights. Turn right on the N332 towards Alicante. It is about 2 kms on the left hand side.

 

Denia (25 Minutes)

• Lidl - For inexpensive basic requirements. It is on the left towards the end of the dual carriageway into Denia (just before MacDonalds).
• Eroski Hypermarket - Turn right just before the Ford Franchise Garage.
• Mercadona - Continue into Denia in the direction of the port and you will see the sign on the building. It has its own free car park adjacent.

 

Benidorm and Gandia (Both about 40 minutes)

• Carrefour (Hypermarket) - Easy to find. There is one in Benidorm. You take the 65A turn off the motorway signed Terra Mitica (Benidorms answer to Alton Towers) and Finistrat.
  The other is just south of Gandia. Take intersection 61 off the motorway and signs for Gandia the signs for Carrefour.

 

 

Local Markets

There are markets in local villages on every day of the week. They vary in size from the simple street market found in Orba itself (great for fruit, vegetables and cheap holiday clothing), to large scale tourist markets in the big towns. Examples of market days are given below:

Monday - Denia, Parcent
Tuesday - Alicante, Altea, Jalon
Wednesday - Orba, Benidorm, Benitachell, Ondara, Teulada
Thursday - Alicante, Javea, Pego, Gandia 
Friday - Denia, Gata de Gorgos, Moraira, Oliva 
Saturday - Jalon (flea market), El Vergel (Safari Park), Benissa, Calpe, Ondara 
Sunday - Pedreguer (flea market), Teulada
